The rivers on the Delaware side include (from north to south): the Christina River, the Appoquinimink River, the Leipsic River, the Smyrna River, the St.
The bay, the river and the Indian tribe called Delaware were all renamed after Lord Delaware (Thomas West, 3rd (or 12th) Baron De La Warr) an Englishman who led the contingent which reinforced the Jamestown settlement in 1610.

The Leipsic Site is located in Kent County on the north bank of the Leipsic River in Delaware's Low Coastal Plain (Figure 2).
The Leipsic River, which drains the area of the Leipsic Site, is fed by several lower order and ephemeral streams, and the inland half of the river consists of fresh water.
At approximately 1000 B.C., a marine transgression drowned the Leipsic River and the mouth of Alston Branch creating an estuary and tidal river valley in the remaining portion of the river.

The project impact area is on the eastern side of Kent County, which borders the Delaware Bay.
Lot sizes in the Town of Leipsic are very small, which would limit available approved alternatives for waste disposal and would also not allow the proper distancing between private wells.
This project will help eliminate harmful nutrients from discharging in the Leipsic River that is a tributary of the Delaware Bay, and will serve approximately 200 homes and 9 business in the Leipsic, Delaware area.

Mahon River is merely one of the outlets of Dona River, which has forced a passage through the marsh, and flowing southerly for four miles enters the Delaware.
A narrow ridge of sand separates Rehoboth Bay and Indian River Bay from the Atlantic Ocean, while Indian River Inlet is a passage, torn by storms, through this ridge for the waters of the two bays to the ocean.
Indian River Bay is about eight miles long and from two to four broad; it fronts the Atlantic Ocean for three miles, and is separated only by the narrow ridge mentioned above.

Elva Burrows, who co-owns the popular Leipsic crab house with her husband, Isaac, son of its late founder Samuel “Sambo” Burrows, says it’s slow for a bit — and she and Isaac have time to chat about the 50th anniversary season before the dinner crowd comes in.

Closed or open areas within Rehoboth Bay and its tributaries, Indian River and Indian River Bay and their tributaries, Little Assawoman Bay and its tributaries, Big Assawoman Bay and its tributaries, Nanticoke River and its tributaries and all tributaries entering the Delaware River and Delaware Bay to fishing with gill nets for food fish.
The Department may promulgate such other regulations concerning a species of finfish that spend part or all of their life cycle within the tidal waters of the State; provided that such regulations are consistent with an interstate fisheries management plan developed for the protection and conservation of said species of finfish.
(14) "Delaware River" shall mean all those tidal waters under the jurisdiction of the State located within an area to the north of a straight line connecting Liston Point, Delaware and Hope Creek, New Jersey, but not including any tributaries thereto.

On Feb 16, the bird was found mid- to late morning just east of Rte 9, between Whitehall Neck Rd (the entrance road to Bombay Hook NWR) and the Leipsic River.
In addition to one sighting of the bird flying west over Rte 9 just north of the Leipsic River at 6:50 am, it was reported several times from the Little Creek/Ted Harvey area, from mid-morning through afternoon.
Gyrfalcons are notoriously wide-ranging, and for the most part this bird hasn't hung around any one spot long enough for anyone to chase it; it’s been described as a "hit and run" bird.

On a picture-perfect summer day this past Friday, I joined a number of my fellow Delawareans in the town of Leipsic to celebrate the one-year anniversary of a large-scale effort to reverse the decline in the oyster population of the Delaware Bay.
But as I stood on the banks of the Indian River this past Wednesday – with the smokestacks of the Indian River power plant looming a few hundred yards behind me – I was once again mindful of the work that remains to be done.
I’m pleased to hear that the folks down at Indian River are considering building such a plant to help expand capacity in Sussex County.
