"Lensman" is the story of young Kimball Kinnison, who we meet as he is preparing to leave his father's farm and take off with a burly half-Chewbacca/half-Han Solo character called Buskirk.
During the battle, a "Lensman" is fatally wounded, but before he dies he passes on his "lens," which looks like a blue watch that automatically attaches itself to Kim's wrist.
On the whole, "Lensman," rated PG for violence and profanity, is strictly for animation buffs.

First Lensman was written in 1950 to act as a link between Triplanetary and Galactic Patrol and finally, in the years up to 1954, Smith revised the rest of the series to make it internally consistent with the new additions for book publication.
Semi-Portable: The Lensman universe equivalent of a heavy machine gun: A large beam weapon designed to be carried by more than one man, projecting a beam powerful enough to overcome personal defense screens (mounted on an individual's space armor), which cannot be penetrated by DeLameters or other hand blasters.
Sunbeam: In Second Stage Lensman, an entire solar system is converted to an ultrawave vacuum tube, with asteroids and planets as grids and plates, to focus nearly the entire output of the sun into a beam capable of melting the surface of a planet in seconds.

We're told at the beginning that the Lensman are a group of beings who protect the Galactic Alliance, and they are facing their biggest threat from the Beskone, a mixmatch of evil alien races led by a supreme dictator.
The Lensman tells him that the information contained within his lens--an attachment that appears to fuse to the left hand of the wearer--must be delivered to an admiral of the Alliance before their cataclysmic battle with the Beskone.

"Lensman" is to animated features what Sam Raimi's "Darkman" is to horror thrillers: a return to older traditions via new technologies.
Like "Star Wars," "Lensman" jumps onto a narrative escalator, a serial effect in which crucial events have taken place before the first frame and consequences will be felt in the inevitable sequels.
Unfortunately, the makers of "Lensman" chose to mix high-tech computer-graphic animation with more traditional animation, and the results are equally mixed.

Prices like these are OK for collectors but for the serious user I would save up and purchase a better instrument such as the Swift FM-31 and Tiyoda portable or even a proper biological microscope with monocular eyepiece and a set of normal objectives and mirror.

The Dragon Lensman (Second Stage Lensman, book 1) by David A Kyle
As The Dragon Lensman opens, the Boskonian conspiracy seems to have been vanquished with its defeat at the great Battle of Klovia, and the victorious Galactic Patrol is busy re-orienting itself to face the new challenges of policing a galaxy instead of defending it against a ruthless invader.
Among those adjusting to the new reality is Second Stage Lensman Worsel, the legendary warrior/scientist famed for his intelligence and dedication to the fight against ignorance and evil.
To counter this new menace, the Dragon Lensman finds himself hurtling through space to rendez-vous with the one Lensman who understands robots well enough to strategize against an inorganic uprising - the mysterious Twenty-Four of Six, whose knowledge of machines turns out to be deeper and more hard-won than even Worsel could guess.

Actually, the biggest problem I've seen with using lensman as a campaign setting is the way the series treats women.
