Jonah Lomu got a try to mark his special occasion in London this morning, but perhaps it was fitting that England's finest got the victory, Martin Johnson's XV shading Lomu's southern hemisphere lineup 33-29 in a spirited Twickenham testimonial.
When midfielder Leon Lloyd crashed through the Lomu XV defence with just a minute or so left on the clock, Johnson's team finally regained the lead they had surrendered for much of the second half of this more-than-competitive matchup.
Carlos Spencer danced through the defence early in the second spell to put Lomu's XV in the led and Matt Burke, who had an off night with his kicking, managed a five-pointer to stretch the southern men out to 29-19.

Lloyd's last-minute try, a breakaway from halfway, gave Leicester a flattering margin of victory but Gloucester were in no mood to argue.
