The Rupnik line presents the system of fortifications, which was built by the old Yugoslav army in the 1930s as a line of defence on the border between the Kingdom of Yugoslavia and the Kingdom of Italy.
On November 3, 1938, General Leon Rupnik (1880 1946) was named the commander of the headquarters for the fortification of the defence line along the border with Italy.
The construction of the Rupnik Line was methodically planned and the project was quite extensive, as it was supposed to encompass the entire western border.

The young "guards", also known as glavačevci and ljotičevci, who were convinced that Leon Rupnik, the president of the provincial administration of the Ljubljana Province, was the initiator of the Home Guard Movement (Domobranci), launched an "all-national movement".
Their leader Rupnik, who was considered the central figure of national unity and revival, became the personification and the symbol of this movement.
It is obvious that these views, which reflect little creativity, were hastily formulated and that most ideas were borrowed from extreme right-wing European movements and ideologies of that time.

 Rupnikova linija & Vallo Alpino
Two mighty fortification lines, eastern part of "Vallo Alpino" also reffered to as "Vallo Littorio" or "Vallo Alpino del Littorio", built by the Kingdom of Italy, and "Rupnik line", built by the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, are traversing Slovenian territory and descending to the Croatian port of Rijeka, known once also as Fiume.
Since the resistance movement against German and Italian occupation (called partisans) was mostly led by communists, the chief architect of this defence line, Yugoslav general of Slovenian origin Leon Rupnik decided to collaborate with Germans in suppressing it.
So I believe that the appreciation of these forts is to undergo certain transformation and that they are well positioned to become a significant attraction for tourists and an asset for the local communities.

Part of this project is the Rupnik Line Trail, which is divided into three stages.
The first stage leads from Smrečje above Žiri to Gorenja vas via Žirovski vrh, the second stage continues from Gorenja vas across Blegoš to Zali Log, and the third stage leads from Zali Log across Ratitovec to the Soriška planina (Sorica Plain), where it joins the Old Border Trail which follows the Italian border fortifications.

In all of these states, crime and corruption have increased dramatically; society has rapidly become polarised and fragmented; the political sphere is bitter; and a significant section of the new business class is proving a cross between corrupt and sluggish, with a rising stake in keeping things as they are.
The Czech political scientist Jacques Rupnik told me in Prague that "people in Central Europe had huge enthusiasm at first, in part stimulated by the west; but now they are taking once again an ironic distance from politics and public affairs, a mentality you could say that was of the Good Soldier Schweik".
These states have seen a century of violent change to their borders (all of which are 20th century, usually postwar, creations), to their politics and to their international orientation.
