		Leonard Kwan has the distinction of having released what is regarded as the first album in Hawaiian recording history devoted exclusively to slack key instrumental playing: the Red Album (properly known as "Slack Key"), now a collectors item.
		Kwan also plays a solo guitar piece, a rare event back then as slack key tended to be played in a group setting rather than alone.

		Leonard Ke'ala Kwan, a slack-key master who with the late Gabby Pahinui and the late Sonny Chillingworth inspired generations of musicians around the world, died Sunday in his sleep.
		Kwan and his music will be celebrated at the 18th Annual Bankoh Kihoalu, a slack-key festival starting at 2:00 p.m.

		The Vault was a staple during Kwan family vacations.
		Regardless, it's certainly a great tune and is deserving of being in Steve Kwan's top five.
		The point to be taken here is that if the takedown order had never been issued, then the key would probably be know to handful of people as opposed to the masses that do now.

		It was great news to me because I have been searching for a recording of "Nahenahe" ever since I learned it from his red slack key instruction book.
		And I did get to see Leonard (along with Ray Kane, George Kuo, Oz Kotani and others) perform at the Academy of Arts in Honolulu several years ago.
