  Leonard Maltin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leonard Maltin (born December 18, 1950 in New York City) is a widely known and respected American film critic.
In the mid-1990s, he became the president of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and is on the Advisory Board of the Hollywood Entertainment Museum.
For nearly a decade, Maltin was also on the faculty of the New School for Social Research in New York City.

Leonard Maltin's movie guide is certainly one of the more useful reference books you could put on your Palm.
While we weren't crazy about the reviews themselves, which suggest that Maltin has a preference for mainstream films and no great love for experimental works, the guide is handy and a well put together package.

I like that Maltin gives me the option to see both the year and the rating for the movie in the list view, but I wish it would let me sort on these.
In the list views, I wish Maltin would wrap to a second line for long titles, instead of chopping off the name and allowing that to "run into" the year and/or rating.
Maltin has fewer categories, but the search function is much more complete, and at least it gives you some minimal options in the list views for sorting by year or rating.

Now Mr Maltin has redressed the balance giving us the basic history of all the main studios each getting it's own chapter (plus one extra for the silent era).
Maltin does a wonderful and comprehensive job of outlining the history of animation from the Silent Era, to the Golden Age, to a few subsequent years thereafter.
Maltin shows his love for cartoons in every word.In light of the recent animation boom, however, it would be nice to see a more recently updated edition.One of my favorites!
