On the faculty of the Univ. of GOttingen from 1909, he was interested in the use of critical method to establish a scientific foundation for philosophy and in the systematic development of philosophical ethics.
Nelson viewed Immanuel Kant's Critique of Pure Reason as a treatise on method, and he further developed the thought of Jakob Friedrich Fries, the only post-Kantian who had adopted that approach.
Nelson's work in the area of ethics proceeded from a faith in systematic, critical reasoning, on which the values of his system are based.

The Very Best Books : Leonard Nelson
Leonard Nelson's career as a prolific artist and influential art educator spanned more than half the twentieth century, from the thirties to the nineties, and forged lose links with the leading artists and movements of that time in American art history.
Nelson's artistic and cultural interests were even wider and more challenging than some of his more famous New York colleagues; in his Philadelphia studio he explored avenues as diverse as welded sculpture, incorporating scrap or found objects, and printmaking, a medium that established him among the leading innovators of the day.
Nelson left an extensive body of work in paintings and printmaking, proving how prescient his early vision and stylistic impulses have been, and what a quiet, yet formidable, force he became in the evolution of 20th-century American art.

Leonard Nelson (1882-1927) started his Abhandlungen der Fries'schen Schule, Neue Folge, attempting a "Reformation of Philosophy," four years after the beginning of the 20th Century.
Leonard Nelson rediscovered Fries's work while still a high school student, revived the tradition, usually referred to now as the Neo-Friesian School, and in 1904 began publishing the Abhandlungen der Fries'schen Schule, Neue Folge.

Also known as the Dark Strangler, his body count was in the high 20s, and unlike most serial killers, he rarely used a weapon.
