  Leonhard Hutter
Leonhard Hutter (January 1563 - October 23, 1616), German Lutheran theologian, was born at Nellingen near Ulm.
In 1594 he began to give theological lectures at Jena, and in 1596 accepted a call as professor of theology at Wittenberg, where he died on the 23rd of October 1616.
Hutter was a stern champion of Lutheran orthodoxy, as set down in the confessions and embodied in his own Compendium locorum theologicorum (1610; reprinted 1863), being so faithful to his master as to win the title of "Luther redonatus."

Leonhard Hutter (January 1563 - October 23, 1616), was a German Lutheran theologian.
In 1594 he began to give theological lectures at Jena, and in 1596 accepted a call as professor of theology at Wittenberg, where he died twenty years later.
In reply to Rudolf Hospinian's Concordia discors (1607), he wrote a work, rich in historical material but one-sided in its argument, Concordia concors (1614), defending the formula of Concord, which he regarded as inspired.

The Loci became the text-book of Lutheran theology in the universities, and took the place of Peter Lombard’s Sentences.
Leonhard Hutter likewise followed them, till he published a more orthodox compend (1610) which threw them into the shade and even out of use during the seventeenth century.
The theological manual of Melanchthon proved a great help to the Reformation.

Da das Erscheinungsjahr 1606 identisch mit dem Geburtsjahr der Gräfin Margarete ist, ließe sich ebenso ein Taufgeschenk konstruieren und die junge Frau hätte dieses mit in die Ehe gebracht.
Wie dem auch sei, eine mit den Kommentaren des kompromisslosen Anticalvinisten Hutter versehene Luther-Bibel als Traditionsträger in hoher Wertschätzung ist sowohl für den lippe-brakischen als auch für den naussauischen Hof, die sich beide nachdrücklich für das reformierte Bekenntnis entschieden hatten, sicher bemerkenswert.
