Leopold Josef Graf Daun, Fürst von Thiano (Count Leopold Josef von Daun or Dhaun) (September 24, 1705 – February 5, 1766), Prince of Thiano, Austrian field marshal, was born at Vienna.
The union of the relieving army with the forces of Prince Charles at Prague reduced Daun to the position of second in command, and in that capacity he took part in the pursuit of the Prussians and the victory of Breslau.
Daun was present on that field, but was not held accountable for the disaster, and when Prince Charles resigned his command, Daun was appointed in his place.

Sebastião de Melo, Marquis of Pombal - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Queen consort of Portugal, Archduchess Maria Anna of Austria, was fond of de Melo; after his first wife died she arranged the widowed de Melo's second marriage to the daughter of the Austrian Field Marshal Leopold Josef, Count von Daun.
This was the final stroke that broke the power of the aristocracy and ensured the victory of the Minister against his enemies.
In 1745 de Melo served as the Portuguese ambassador to Vienna.

 Austrian Information
Furthermore, the court was forced to economize greatly during the war of the Spanish Succession (1700-1714), so that Hildebrandt received only small-scale commissions, such as the design of the sarcophagi for the Emperors Leopold I and Josef I (1678-1711).
Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt was born in Genoa on 14 November, 1668, the son of "German parents" and "a born country-person," as he describes himself in one application.
Count Friedrich Carl Schönborn, who became Imperial Vice-Chancellor in 1705 and whose office was in Vienna, began giving Hildebrandt his first commissions in 1706 and remained in close contact with his protégé right up until the latters's death.

math lessons - Battle of Hochkirk
Ironically, the defeat was brought about by the Austrian Marshal Daun's use of a variation on Frederick's own oblique order of attack.
By use of a secret overnight march, Daun fell upon Frederick's right, and in heavy fighting drove the Prussians off Hochkirch hill, forcing them to retreat.
Frederick's army was deployed facing east, with its right flank in front of the village of Hochkirch.

Prague-1770 celebrates the compositions of three such Bohemians, Franz Tuma (1704-1774), Josef Myslivecek (1737-1781), and Leopold Kozeluch (1747-1818).
Subsequent research revealed that my growing admiration for Josef Myslivecek was shared by none less than Mozart himself who after meeting the Czech in Bologna in 1770 exclaimed, "He exudes fire, spirit and life." There is now little doubt that Myslivecek's style influenced Mozart a great deal in opera, symphonies, and violin concertos.

MozartForum - Mozart's letter passage regarding Myslivecek Symphony
The first mentioning of Josef Myslivecek in the Mozart correspondence is by Leopold in a letter to his wife from Bologna on August 4, 1770: "During the last few days Myslivecek came to see me as did Manfredini, the castrato....".
The Mozart's and Myslivecek met "very often" in Bologna Leopold tells his wife on October 27 from Milan and the Bohemian composer "is an honest fellow and we became intimate friends".
As Myslivecek was all over Italy at that time and at the height of his popularity, is it not possible that the theme may have been well known and Wolfgang simply heard of it ---bits and pieces of it being passed around or that someone gave him the theme on the violin?

Hailed by his peers as a keyboard perfectionist, Leopold Godowsky (1970-1938) supposedly played best in intimate settings but froze when it came to concerts and recording sessions.
Yet he did approve many items for release, consequently inviting critical judgement and direct comparison with contemporaries like Harold Bauer, Sergei Rachmaninov, Josef Lhevinne, and Josef Hofmann.
Granted, Godowsky abhorred the limitations of early recording techniques and went so far as to admonish a correspondent not to judge him by his records.

Leopold Graf Berchtold - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Leopold Anton Johann Sigismund Josef Korsinus Ferdinand Graf Berchtold (in English: Count Leopold Anthony John Sigismund Joseph Corsinus Ferdinand von Berchtold, in Hungarian: Gróf Berchtold Lipót) (April 18, 1863-November 21, 1942) was Austro-Hungarian foreign minister at the outbreak of the First World War.
Berchtold disregarded Serbia's largely complaisant reply and convinced Franz-Josef to declare war on July 28.
Berchtold persuaded the reluctant Emperor to issue an unacceptable ultimatum to Serbia (mainly by arguing that Russia would not come to Serbia's aid) on July 23, which was effectively the first step towards war.

 Leopold von Berchtold
Leopold von Berchtold was born in Vienna in 1862.
As Berchtold was a reluctant supporter of war, Conrad von Hotzendorf was able to label him as a defeatist and in January 1915 he was removed from office by Franz Josef.
However, Berchtold was over-ruled by Franz Josef and war was declared on Serbia on 28th July, 1914.
