The sportive lemurs are the medium sized primates that make up the Lepilemuridae family.

The name ‘sportive' came about owing to this species' interesting habit of adopting a boxer-like stance when threatened (1).
Northern sportive lemurs are one of the smallest of the Lepilemurs and have pale grey-brown backs with a darker line that runs from the head down to the tail.
There is some brown around the top of the head and around their shoulders, and their undersides are grey (2).

Influences on the Distribution of Lepilemur microdon in the Ranomafana National Park, Madagascar - Karger ...
The sportive or weasel lemurs, genus Lepilemur, are small-bodied nocturnal strepsirhines which occupy a diverse array of habitats across Madagascar.
Lepilemur is one of the smallest folivorous primates, and reported behaviours of caecotrophy [1] (but see Russell [2] for counterevidence), low rates of activity [3], low resting metabolic rates [4] as well as their enlarged caecum [1, 5] may allow them to adopt this diet, which is generally restricted to larger primates [6].
In addition, Lepilemur have been observed to sleep in tree cavities [7, 8].

The number of species within the Malagasy genus Lepilemur and their phylogenetic relationships is disputed and controversial.
In order to establish their evolutionary relationships, a comparative cytogenetic and molecular study was performed.
