Les Etchemins is a regional county municipality in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of eastern Quebec, Canada.
Created in 1982, it is named for the Etchemin River which finds its source in the region, as well as Etchemin Lake.
Les Etchemins can be found on the Maine border, southeast of Quebec City.

In order to obtain a numerator, we compared the overall number of firms located in the region in question with the total number of firms at the same technological level in all of Québec.
When the quotient is equal to 1, this means that the region is average by Québec standards in terms of technological intensity.
The total number of firms was 329 in Montréal and 43 in Laval, which in both cases was equivalent to 5.3% of the total number of manufacturing firms in each of these two areas.
