Lester Callaway Hunt (July 8, 1892–June 19, 1954) was a Democratic politician and dentist from the U.S. state of Wyoming.
Hunt served in the Dental Corps from 1917 to 1919 and rose to the rank of major.
Hunt was elected to the state legislature from Fremont County in 1933, and subsequently served two terms as Wyoming secretary of state from 1935 to 1943, and two terms as governor from 1943 to 1949.

LESTER C. HUNT, was born in Isabel, Illinois on July 8, 1892.
Hunt graduated with a degree from the St. Louis University College of Dentistry in 1917 and moved to Cheyenne.
Hunt was elected to the House of the State Legislature in 1932, elected Secretary of State in 1934 and 1938, and elected Governor in 1942 where he served until 1949.

Governor Hunt signed into law a patently unconstitutional bill stripping the internees of the right to vote in the state where they resided, and then continued his predecessor's policy of demanding the expulsion of each and every one of the internees from Wyoming at war's end.

Hunt Stromberg was the first producer added to the Society of Independent Motion Picture Producers in 1942 after the group had been formed by Charlie Chaplin, Walt Disney, Samuel Goldwyn, Alexander Korda, Mary Pickford, David O. Selznick, Walter Wanger, and Orson Welles.
Stromberg was already well-connected to the independent producers, and many of his employees were important members of the old Selznick International team, including Lowell V. Calvert and Kay Brown.
Myron Selznick, who brokered the deal between Stromberg and UA, was one of the primary investors of Hunt Stromberg Productions, Inc. Also, David Selznick's attorney Lester Roth became secretary of the independent production company, and Loyd Wright president of SIMPP served as Stromberg's lawyer.

After Hunt's announcement, Republican Congressman William H. Harrison, 58, grandson of President William Henry Harrison, filed for the office and became the best bet for the G.O.P. nomination.
He had wanted to sidestep an election fight with popular Lester Hunt, but with the Senator out of action, Harrison, like all Wyoming Republicans, was suddenly feeling tough and cocky.
