Levan Chilashvili (born August 17, 1930) is a famous Georgian archaeologist and historian, Academician of the Georgian Academy of Sciences (GAS), Meritorious Scholar of Georgia, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor.
Chilashvili is a Director of the State Museum of Georgia of the GAS.
In 1995-2003 by the Chilashvili's archaeological expedition in Nekresi (Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia) were found old, pre-Christian Georgian inscriptions of the 3rd-1st centuries BC.

The original alphabet is known as Asomtavruli ("capital") or Mrgvlovani ("rounded"), examples of which are still preserved in monumental inscriptions, such as those of the Georgian church in Bethlehem (near Jerusalem, 430) and church of Bolnisi Sioni near Tbilisi (4th-5th centuries).
Older, pre-Christian Georgian (Asomtavruli) inscriptions dating from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD were found in Armaztsikhe (near Mtskheta) and Nekresi (in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia), in 1940 and 1995-2003 by the scientific expeditions of Academician Simon Janashia (1900-1947) and Academician Levan Chilashvili [2].

Older Asomtavruli inscriptions have been claimed to date from pre-Christian times, the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD.
These were found in Armaztsikhe (near Mtskheta) and Nekresi (in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia), in 1940 and 1995–2003 by the scientific expeditions of Simon Janashia (1900-1947) and Levan Chilashvili [1].
The inscriptions from Armaztsikhe were investigated by Pavle Ingorokva.

I mean Dmanisi itself and the State Museum of Georgia where this discovery is kept.
I would also like to say that academician Levan Chilashvili's discovery deserves more attention too.
It proves - at least that is what I have understood, what he has told and explained to me - that the Georgian script existed much earlier than we had thought.
