It caught a prey and flew in the dierction of the nearby mountains.

Few of us on the survey would deny that the sudden appearance of Levant Sparrowhawks over a station is one of the highlights of our work, and most of the world's population of this species will pass through Northern Israel in a matter of days during mid to late September.
The cumulative total of 66,000 Levant Sparrowhawks already counted on this year's survey is by far the largest number ever recorded in the history of the Northern Valleys survey, and yet still they continue to pass which's nothing short of amazing.
The migration was fair at Sarrid with 484 Levant Sparrowhawk, 209 Lesser Spotted Eagle, 18 Short-toed Eagle, and 16 Honey Buzzards, while 2 Griffon Vultures and a Golden Eagle were probably not migratory.

Most birds fly very high over the survey posts making identification and counting quite difficult, though sometimes good views are possible especially in the early morning, when raptors are leaving their overnight roosts.
The Levant Sparrowhawk in photo 9 for example was one of a small group which were roosting in the small trees alongside one of the survey posts.
Numbers of raptors counted on the survey vary from year to year, taking Honey Buzzard for example an average total is something over 300,000, though in some years over half a million are counted passing though the area.
