  Clark County History
Clark County was named after the intrepid explorer who, in the Lewis and Clark expedition, blazed a way across the continent, then a vast pathless wilderness, and proclaimed to the world the wonderful resources of the great area west of the Mississippi.
The county includes a rectangular area seven townships long and five ranges wide, being 23 to 29, inclusive and ranges 1 east to 4 west, inclusive, except the town 23, range 4 west, in the southwestern corner of the rectangle, which is a part of Jackson County.
Clark County in Central Wisconsin is destined to be one of the wealthiest and most prosperous counties in the country--a garden spot of the world.

 LOGGING HISTORY of SHERWOOD, CLARK COUNTY, WISCONSIN
In 1880 Tom La Flesh was given permission by the state of Wisconsin to oversee the building of the dam on Toms Creek in section 14, Town of Sherwood, along with three other dams in the nearby area.
When loggers were unpaid by the logging companies for the work they did or for the cost of supplies provided to feed the men or teams employed at the camps they filed a lien at the courthouse on the logs they helped cut, haul or drive to try and recoup their money.
Until the summer of 2005 evidence could still be found on Clark County forest land on the north side of Ballard Road, about two-thirds of a mile west of Division Avenue (the road to Sherwood Bluff or Dart Mound as it was once called) in Sherwood Township.

An Eau Claire man is dead, and two more people are hurt, after a one-vehicle rollover crash in Clark County Saturday night.
The Clark County Sheriff’s Department says 46-year-old Donald M. Cieminski of Eau Claire died in a crash on State Highway 95 near Bryan Avenue in the Township of Levis.
This marks the second fatality in Clark County this year.
