Frank Lewis Miller, III, was born in Colon, Republic of Panama, on July 8, 1922, the son of Army Chaplain Frank Lewis Miller, Jr., and Mildred Burnett Miller.
Miller died of a malignant melanoma on September 6, 1975, in Honolulu, at the age of 53.

It was in 1873 that Lewis Miller and Dr. John Heyl Vincent, later a bishop of the Methodist church, visited Fair Point (now Chautauqua) and arranged with the Chautauqua Lake Camp Meeting Association for the use of its grounds by the Chautauqua Lake Sunday School Assembly.
