Miller never married, but several paintings hint that he may have had affection for a woman he identified as "sweet, sweet Mary." "There are indications that he may have been rejected," Lloyd says.
Miller died in 1882 at the age of 87 and was buried in the Craig family cemetery in Christiansburg.

Lewis M. Miller, a native New Yorker, holds degrees from Queens College, Manhattan School of Music, and North Texas State University (Ph.D), where he studied respectively with Karol Rathaus, Vittorio Giannini, and Samuel Adler.
In 1989, he received the Artist Fellowship Award from the Kansas Arts Commission - carrying a $5,000 stipend and performances of three of his works.
In 1990, his Brass Quintet - composed for the New Mexico Brass Quintet - was selected as one of the official performance pieces at the International Competition for Brass Quintets held biennially in Narbonne, France.

Lewis Miller, born in York, Pa., in 1796, began drawing at the age of three by making a rough sketch of the funeral procession of George Washington.
The purpose of the journeys was to visit a cousin, Charles Edie Miller, a talented poet-artist-sculptor residing in Christiansburg.
Lewis Miller died in Christiansburg in 1882 at the age of eighty-six.

Miller often duplicated his sketches, and those he dated are according to the date of the event rather than the actual date the sketch was completed.

Miller is buried in the historic Craig Cemetery, which is under the care of the Montgomery Museum.
The Montgomery Museum is fortunate to have two original Miller sketches and an original Valentine dated 1857 in its collections, along with numerous articles, artifacts, and prints relating to Miller.

What we have here is the Frank Miller rendition of Bruce Wayne's transformation into the Dark Knight, adding a little more grit to what might otherwise be considered an old story.
The third origin belongs to Catwoman, previously a prostitute, portrayed by Miller as the antithesis of Batman's wealthy do-gooder, but who is still inspired by his reported antics to don a costume and prowl the small hours.
She adds little to the story though, and most of the other female parts fare just as badly, from the two-dimensional women in Gordon's life to Batman's distinct lack of sexual interest.
