  Jus soli
Usually a practical regulation of the acquisition of nationality or citizenship of a state by birth on the territory of the state is provided by a derivative law called lex soli.
Most states provide a specific lex soli, in application of the respective jus soli, and it is the most common means of acquiring nationality.
A frequent exception to lex soli is opposed when a child was born to a parent in the diplomatic or consular service of another state, on a mission to the state in question.

Jus sanguinis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jus sanguinis (Latin for "right of blood") is a right by which nationality or citizenship can be recognized to any individual born to a parent who is a national or citizen of that state.
States offering Jus sanguinis rights to those persons and their descendants would include Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria all of whom are obligated by international treaty to extend those rights.
Another constraint is that each descendant of the ancestor through whom citizenship is claimed jus sanguinis can pass on citizenship only if they were a citizen at the time of the birth of the person to whom they are passing it.

Generally, nationality is established at birth by a child's place of birth (jus soli) and/or bloodline (jus sanguinis).
The person remains subject to the state's jurisdiction (the lex domicilii in Conflict of Laws) for the purposes of defining status and capacity wherever he or she might travel outside the state's territory; in exchange, the individual is entitled to the state's protection, and to other rights as well.
In the civil law systems of continental Europe, either the law of nationality (known as the lex patriae) or the law of the place of habitual residence is preferred to domicile as the test of a person's status and capacity.

One rule is jus soli, according to which all persons born within the territory of a given state, except the children of foreign diplomats, are citizens of that state.
The alternative rule is jus sanguinis, under which the place of birth is irrelevant and every child acquires the nationality of his parents?usually of the father if the parents are of different nationalities.
A child born outside Canada has Canadian citizenship from birth jure sanguinis if either parent was a Canadian citizen at the time of the birth and if the birth was registered with the appropriate Canadian authorities within two years.

Dual citizenship (being a citizen of two nations), or dual nationality, is by far the most common type of multiple citizenship, as nothing in international law prevents anyone from establishing citizenship in two countries.
Some countries bestow citizenship automatically to persons wedding their nationals, to persons with a parent who is one of their nationals (Jus sanguinis), or to persons born on their territory (Jus soli).
A person born outside Canada to a Canadian parent is a Canadian citizen (though, in certain limited situations, the Canadian citizenship of someone born to a Canadian parent outside Canada may expire on the person's 28th birthday).

The aforesaid seems to reflect that the Nationality Law of 1958 shows a definite preference for "jus sanguinis" rule in determining nationality at birth, and precedence is given to the link with the father.
By way of complementing the "jus sanguinis" rule, the Nationality Law of 1958 seems also to adopt the "jus soli" rule by providing that a person born in the Indonesian territory is an Indonesian national:

The first principles of Commonwealth constitutional law hold that sovereignty, that is the absolute right to command obedience, rests with Parliament.(22) This principle of parliamentary supremacy, which is by no means unknown in European and other legal traditions, is completely at odds with this contention.
Any property or legal right belonging jure sanguinis (by right of blood) to any individual can be alienated, either by action of the competent legislative authority, or (to a lesser extent) by action of the possessor.
Orders of Chivalry are governed by the appropriate lex creatus.(34) Claims to Orders and the rights they confer must be directed to the granting jurisdiction where the claim will be decided by the lex creatus.
