LEXINGTON, Ky. - Despite the objections of students and faculty of Lexington Community College, University of Kentucky trustees voted Tuesday to move the college from under the oversight of UK to that of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System.
Lexington Community College President Jim Kerley said that he didn't agree with the decision but that if it is approved by the legislature and governor, he would support the changes.
Todd's task force considered three options — maintain the college's relationship with UK but make changes to convince the accreditation agency that the college is sufficiently autonomous; include the college as a component of UK's accreditation; or accredit the college as a separate institution, one that is either freestanding or under the community college system.
