 Hack writer or Well intented amateur?
The version called 'Liber Ivonis' (in the tales) was a Latin translation of the Book of Eibon by Caius Phillipus Faber.
The mental imagery associated with it were the entrails of the android in 'ALIEN' and a passage from that god-awful tale, HPL (in 'Thulhu 2k, i think) where the Outer God extends an appendage from a crack above HPL's deathbed and sucks out the cancer.
At the time when i penned the Liber Ivonis bit, I was at school, and did not have access to my HPL library, the internet, or the book itself

Some say that it was written by the wizard Eibon, of ancient Hyperborea, before the fall of Atlantis.
The earliest known version is the 9th century Latin Liber Ivonis, attributed to Caius Phillipis Faber.
There was a translation into medieval French by Gaspard du Nord of Vyones some time in the 13th century, and called the Livre d’Ivon, of which thirteen copies are said to exist.

He life is detailed in the Vita Ivonis ("The Life of Eibon"), also by Cyron of Varaad.
The name "Eibon" appears to have been derived by one of the translators from the heretical Christian sect, the Eibonites, and does indeed appear as a personal name (the "E" of T.E.D.Klien's name stands for Eibon).
Editions include: the Kishite Version; The Punic (1600 B.C.); The Greek Edition; The Latin Liber Ivonis (10th-11th century); Livre d'Ivon (13th century); and the only printed version, the Adkins and Jones edition of the Latin text (A.D.1937).

In going through the adventures that were written up by Dr. Lyndon Parker, there is only one adventure which touched upon the "Cthulhu Mythos." This adventure was entitled "The Adventure of the Six Silver Spiders" upon its publication in the public press.
In examining a catalogue for the sale of a private collection of twenty volumes, Parker mentioned some of the titles therein: Necronomicon, Unaussprechlichen Kulten, Cultes des Goules, De Vermis Mysteriis, and Liber Ivonis.
It is obvious to the student of the "Cthulhu Mythos" that these are titles of books which are integral to the understanding of the threat from this mythology, if everything about it can be taken as absolute truth.

I could come up with students from that sort of school based on my experience.
But a 1920s era Liberal Arts college I would struggle to populate.
And while I know Chaosium considers it the hideously deformed and ugly and unwanted step-child (sort of like how Michael is to the rest of the Jacksons), I would have liked to have seen some support for CoC d20.
