 Liberal Forum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Liberal Forum (German: Liberales Forum, LiF) is a small liberal party in Austria.
In 1993, liberals within the FPÖ, including four members of the National Council (Nationalrat, lower house of the parliament), seceded from the party to found the Liberal Forum.
Heide Schmidt (3rd president of the Nationalrat) became the party's first chairman.

The Freedom Party was subsequently expelled from the Liberal International, and the remaining liberals seceded to found the Liberal Forum (Liberales Forum, member LI, ELDR) in 1993.

The first full day (Sunday) saw an excellent presentation from Markus Müller from LSF (Austria) on the chances for real liberals in the forthcoming elections (their mother party the Liberales Forum) which appear to be on a knife edge with a poor performance meaning almost certain destruction for the party.
The general view being that although the Youth Forum is in the stronger position (having ties to huge amounts of EU money) ECB had generally proved to be more useful and accessible to IFLRY.
In the evening several members of the LDYS delegation depart for Budapest to spend a night at the Euro Woodstock Festival which is a large festival on the island in the Danube in the centre of Budapest which lasts for a week.

The FPÖ came close to the ÖVP with 22.6 % and 42 seats, the Greens received 7 % of the vote and 13 seats, the Liberales Forum won 11 seats in the Nationalrat with 5.7 % of the vote.
The SPÖ-ÖVP coalition was resumed, V. Klima became Minister of Finance and in the budgets of 1996/1997 managed to fulfill the criteria for the single currency.
