Perhaps the biggest difference between Libertarian National Conventions and those of the Republican and Democratic parties in the United States is that the Libertarian Party does not accept taxpayer money to pay for its convention.
The Libertarian National Convention is held every two years by the United States Libertarian Party to choose members of the Libertarian National Committee, and to conduct other party business.

In order for Bylaws changes to be considered by the convention, a change to the agenda must be requested and approved by the convention, or a suspension of the rules during the convention must be moved and approved in order for such changes to be considered.
Speakers will address the convention while the Secretary is tabulating the results of each vote.

Then there was indefatigable San Francisco libertarian activist Starchild visually letting his freak flag fly, alternately appearing in druid's robes with staff, a tight silver half-vest and short shorts with pink platform boots and fairy wings, and some straightforward leopard-skin drag.
Badnarik has a very libertarian message about restricting the government strictly to its explicitly Constitutional duties, a message that LP delegates loved to hear; but his natural tendency is to deliver it in a style far more legal, philosophical, and historical than political in an everyday sense.

Well-known to the LPPA, Poker Face (Paul Topete, Dennis Beidler, Brett Griffiths and Rich Valentine) has played at their state conventions (among many other venues, private and public, in several states) and comes highly recommended by LP activists there.
They played a Freedom Rally at the National Monument in Washington, D.C. in November 2002 before a huge crowd.

The Libertarian Party has decided on a theme for the 2000 presidential nominating convention, set prices for convention packages, and announced the first three of more than two dozen speakers.
The theme for the convention -- which will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Anaheim, California from June 30-July 3 -- will be "America's Future: Liberty, Responsibility, & Community," said LP National Director Steve Dasbach.
