Libertarian Party of Canada - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Libertarian Party of Canada is a minor political party in Canada that adheres to the philosophy of libertarianism.
The party declined when the Reform Party of Canada was formed, which attracted many libertarians who saw it as a better vehicle to put forward their philosophy.
The decline in the party's membership and resources resulted in Elections Canada removing their status as a registered party immediately before the 1997 federal election when the party failed to run the minimum fifty candidates needed to maintain its registration.

Libertarian Party of Canada - What is Libertarianism?
Libertarians do not look at government as a sacrosanct body that cannot be questioned, but simply as the agency which has a monopoly on the legal use of force.
Libertarians believe the reason this has happened is not because ideals always conflict with practical reality, but because the ideal of socialism (as enforced by the state) is an ugly one, not suited to Free men.

Libertarianism challenges the basic premise behind this trend - this view that what the state perceives as "the common good" should be forced on the individual - and it challenges the idea on two fronts.

Or, "Why I don't the Conservative Party of Canada to be thorough-goingly libertarian." In yesterday's National Post, here, Brian Chen, self-described as "a teenaged, card-carrying Conservative living in Ontario," argued against "social conservatism" in the Conservative Party and "for small government and personal freedom." I disagree with Mr.
Libertarianism doesn't account for the plurality of institutions and associations, and tends to reduce society to the individual and the state.
I want a party of limited government, a party that wants to support institutional and associational plurality, a party that supports free speech, er, discourse, in the public square for people of faith, and a party that desires to form a government dedicated to the pursuit of public justice with a view to human flourishing.
