The deceased was born in Sussex County, N.J., in 1801.
Seeley worked at his trade and at farming in the county, except two years, up to the time of his death, which occurred March 27, 1878; married, September 16, 1827, to Julia, oldest child of Joseph Thurston, a native of Vermont, born January 11, 1808; three children, one of whom is living.
She was born in Ontario County, N.Y. and came to Macomb County with her parents in 1846.

 MacCready Reserve in Jackson County, Michigan
In September, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees accepted a gift of land in Jackson County from MacCready Realty on behalf of Douglas, Lynn and Willis MacCready, brothers and co-owners of the Michigan Seat Company.
Bounded on the east by Myers Road, on the west by Skiff Lake Road, on the south by Jefferson Road, and on the north by private property, it consists of 408 acres of rolling forest that is entirely wooded except for approximately 30 acres of open land.

The county seat is Kokomo, located in the center of the township on both sides of the Wildcat Creek.
David Bailey, son of Henry Bailey (Liberty Township) settled at the forks of the Wildcat Creek in 1842.
The first house in Howard County was built by David Landrum, a Quaker from Tennessee, in 1837 in the "Seven Mile Strip." A flowing well, piped to the side of the road, marks the site.

Thomas wrote, "His antislavery views were so well known, that, while he was a bachelor boarding at the hotel, fugitives from slavery had called on him for assistance and protection." Pamela Brown Thomas estimated that between 1840 and 1860 she and her husband helped between 1,000 to 1,500 fugitive slaves escape into freedom.
In 1837, he was one of 400 residents in Prairie Ronde and Brady (now Schoolcraft) townships who petitioned Congress in opposition to the annexation of Texas because of the territory's support of slavery.
A key participant in an 1854 antislavery convention in Jackson, Michigan, Dr. Thomas was a nominating committee member of the newly-formed Michigan Republican party.

On June 23, the DEQ brought an administrative action alleging that Mildco, Inc. had failed to economically produce or properly plug and abandon the Curtis 1-18A well located in Liberty Township, Jackson County, Michigan.
In addition, the DEQ alleged that Mildco, Inc. had failed to encapsulate a lined drilling mud pit which had remained open for more than four years, in violation of state regulations.

In 1955 Walter Jackson Bate (d.1999 at 81) published "The Achievement of Samuel Johnson" and in 1977 the biography "Samuel Johnson." In 2000 Adam Potkay authored "The Passion for Happiness," in which he argued that Samuel Johnson should be included in the Anglo-Scottish Enlightenment along with David Hume, Adam Smith and Edward Gibbon.
In anticipation of the country expanding with new states, the Continental Congress took possession of all land won during the Revolution, dividing it into 640-acre sections and selling it for $1 an acre.
Thirty-six sections comprised a township, and within each township, one section was set aside to support public schools.
