A tournament was held at Lichfield in the presence of Edward III in 1348.
Lawn tennis tournaments were held on the cricket club ground during the week of the cricket festival between 1878 and 1883 and continued there in the late 1880s.
The record office had been established in 1959 under an agreement between the diocese, the city, and the county council, in the basement of the former probate court adjacent to the library, and the stack room was built in 1968 to house the diocesan and city records.

Any club player or official found to be in breach of Championship rules shall be dealt with by the Disciplinary Committee who shall have the power to suspend, fine, deduct points and impose any penalty they think is necessary.
Clubs are responsible at all times for the behaviour of their players and officials and must ensure that their members are fully aware of this Code and the potential seriousness of the offences and penalties.
A club shall not be precluded by the Code and any penalties which may be imposed thereunder from instituting its own internal investigation and taking any disciplinary action against its members under the terms of its own rules/ constitution.

So despite the idea being treated cautiously at first by other clubs and organisations, former indoor cricket team mates, friends and relatives were enlisted to play in the clubs first season despite the team having no home ground of its own.
At the end of the season there was an EGM to decide the clubs fate, it was decided that the club should go on despite its problems (still no permanent home base) but just play club cricket and build for a few years before returning to league cricket.
In 1997 it seemed as if the clubs prayers had been answered, a new sports ground, Long Lane Park was being built and the owner was interested in sports other than football, so an approach was made.

I have been doing some cricket coaching in the schools which has kept me going, and keeping me out of trouble.
Also and as funny as this may sound I have been going to the gym about 3-4 times a week with Mongo, which is keeping the Pommy Ruuuuuugger off, hopefully when I come back in September I will be able to be recognised unlike last year.
As far as cricket goes personally I am going OK I have been getting starts but not going on with it, I think I got in my first 5 hits, 4 x 40's which was a shame but you get that!!

The final seven overs saw Lichfield make a staggering 8 runs, 4 of which came from the last ball when Mr Barraclough aka Foggy Dewhurst attempted to prove some kind of daft point by slapping MBKR into the bowls green netting.
It’s finishes like this that make me wonder if we shouldn’t have a points system that means the side batting second needs to score 75% of the opposition’s total to get any points for a losing draw.
