	International Tuba Euphonium Association
		Lieksa is currently a town of about 15,000 people, situated between birch tree forests, lakes and rivers, in the eastern portion of Finland.
		The 2004 Lieksa International Euphonium Competition staff, and Artistic Director Jouko Harjanne, invited euphonium artists Steven Mead (England), Jukka Myllys (Finland), Thomas Rüedi (Switzerland) and Sverre Olsrud (Norway) to the festival.
		The Lieksa Church was another beautiful concert venue as it had wonderful acoustics, aesthetic appeal, and a touch of nostalgia.

		What sounds “higher pitch but lower volume” to one person, might not be interpreted as such by another, but to my ears the Lieksa 2001 recording sounds very akin to the birds I heard in China.
		One last point is that the two different recordings shows the variation between what is, presumably, the same bird, but to my ears every different set of notes has it’s own variation to it as well.
		I see no reason why the call of the Lieksa bird is not within the variation of Oriental Cuckoo.

	American Horn Quartet--Photo Album
		We had a great time while in Finland at the "Lieksa Brass Week".
		While we were there we heard great performances by Markus Maskunnity (who also performed the Casbah of Tetuoan with us at Koli Hill), many talented young horn players as part of the horn competition as well as Brassissimo from Vienna.
