Japanese Manga - City Hunter, Dragonball, Jet, Ryoko, Zetsu Ai
Manga in Japan is part of all stages of life.
(15 is believed by the Japanese to be the time when your life reaches a crossroads -- one which will determine the road you will follow for the rest of your life.) Another telling characteristic of shojo manga is the art style usually employed by the artist who cater to this style.
Manga also caters to the tastes of small children to that of full grown adults, while American comics tend to be thought of as something only for kids and teenagers.

Anime Boredom - Aria manga reviews
Like an Aria, a vocal piece sung in solo with accompaniment, thus is the life of trainee Undine Akari Mizunashi.
It is her solo life, but it is made brighter and more complete with the "accompaniment" of friends, co-workers and the people she meets each and every day she lives and works in Neo Venezia.
And of course there's the citizens of Neo Venezia, as well as those just visiting, who also for brief moments give her company as they board her boat and pass in and out of her life as briefly as a short rainstorm.

It provided a great picture of the areas in which Emma lived throughout her life.
Four of her 5 children are greedy little buggers, and Emma becomes aware of a plot they've hatched to render her incompitent and declare themselves the legal heirs of her massive fortune.

Aria is the type of manga I would recommend to anyone I know, from long-time fans looking for a new read to the newest initiate into the world of manga.
Not every day offers an adventure, not every event is shared with a friend, yet all of it is still important in the bigger cycle of life.
Like Akari, it is very easy to get caught up in the joy of life…and to walk away from this story with a peaceful smile that will last quite a while.

Dragon Ball - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In general, the translation of the manga is considered to be closer to the translation of the anime as factors such as mouth movement are not taken into consideration.
The story of Dragon Ball follows the life of Son Goku, a monkey-tailed boy loosely based on the traditional Chinese folk tale Journey to the West(西遊記), from his life and adventures as a child all the way up to being a grandfather.
In the US, the manga was first released as two American -style comic books : " Dragon Ball " and " Dragon Ball Z " starting in 2000.

deviantART: Shira-chan: Anything You Can Do....
Because I've spent the last 4 years of my life working towards trying to achieve the same level of artistic genius as Japanese manga-ka, and I'll probably spend the rest of my life working towards improving and toning my skills as an artist.
And not only that, it's a manga about cowboys and the wild west, which you don't see a lot of in manga, so it'll be really, really cool to read something that's so completely different from anything that's out there right now.
Also, I know someone who's working on getting their manga published, and I can personally vouch for their abilities, and I'd definitely say it would be really, really, really unfair not to buy their work just because they aren't Japanese.

 Nouvelle Manga Manifesto
Unlike Franco-Belgian BDs, which until the '90s were quite content to rehash the same Sci-Fi, historical or adventure universes, manga (2) has always emphasised DAILY LIFE as a theme.
This attachment to daily life as a theme is for me the principal reason of manga's success with a BROAD RANGE OF READERS.
In Japan, a mangaka is someone who wants, above all, TO TELL STORIES, as opposed to those authors of bandes dessinées 'BDs' (1) in France who generally become comic book artists through an INTEREST IN DRAWING.

 [Manga] Cafe Kichijyouji De Review
Each story is simple to understand, unlike many other "short story" mangas where it focuses on philosophical topics, and while some stories are pretty bland compared to others, they all bring a happy little glow to the heart and a smile to the face.
Like the movie Amelie (which is one of my all time favorites), each chapter leaves you with a warm glow inside and a little twinge to accompany it that begs you to remember those sweet and happier days of your life.
Cafe Kichijyouji, based on a radio show and drama CD series, is not a standard serial story but instead relies on short, amusing stories involving all sorts of weirdness and fun.

Basara is a fictional story set in a real location (albeit one that has been modified by Yumi Tamura's imagination) brought to life by real characters.
Thus comes into play Yumi Tamura's handy definition of "Basara." She explains that a Basara is "a free but noble spirit who disavows established authority and rejects the restriction of convention." Such a soul is exactly what the troubled people of the future need.
One book into Basara, not only do I get the same feeling of refreshing originality emanating from the work, but it seems to possess even greater depth to the world and characters than her other domestically available release.

 La novelle manga
Boilet wishes to do this by promoting and creating works that combine the best aspects of French literature, daily life manga, and Franco-Belgian comics (known as bande dessine).
The strengths of Japanese manga are commonly thought to be experimentation in storytelling whereas French/Belgian bande dessine are known for experimentation in style and design.
In addition Boilet wishes to refer to novelle manga as being in the french feminine form (la) as opposed to the French masculine form (le) which is used for the very mainstream action-oriented manga that is usually published in France.
