Lifeblood   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
In Lifeblood, I use a computer to control the discrete binary release of air bubbles in a tank of water.
Lifeblood is a direct representation of this – a binary signal dissolving before your eyes and ears into the entropy of nature.
The animated visual and auditory rhythms of Lifeblood are also a meditation on the essential importance of the elements water and air.

BBC - Rock & Alt Review - Manic Street Preachers, Lifeblood
"Lifeblood" is an indication that the Manics are accepting life in their 30s gracefully and are not attempting to pass themselves off as desperate 20 year olds with something to prove.
Lifeblood hits the same chords with me - especially To repel ghosts, glasnost, live to fall asleep, song for departure and the truly brilliant Fragments - shame that the Richard Nixon song makes me cringe,(tho good to see they're still exploring their boundaries).
Lifeblood is a damn good album by a band that knock most of the trash around in the charts into orbit.

 BBC - Wales - LifeBlood
Lifeblood is a fantastic album make no mistake, i view it as been natural progression from the band.
Lifeblood - If this were an album by an unkown artist it would have been massive, and the nme would be heralding the new arrivals.
"Lifeblood" is simply one of the best albums in years. It might not be as angry as some of their earlier work, but it has a refined and more mature sound to it.In "Solitude sometimes is" they have a new stadium anthem and "Glasnost" is just a perfect song with a great chorus and superb guitar riff.

The Manic Street Preachers: Lifeblood - PopMatters Music Review
While far from a smashing return to form on par with Everything Must Go (their career high-water mark), Lifeblood should reassure the public that the Manics are not yet artistically bankrupt.
There's an overwhelming sadness to the proceedings, as if the Manics are bidding farewell to the decade that birthed their musical heroes and shaped their sound.
Lifeblood's melodic melancholia, aptly described by Wire as "elegiac pop", mostly works; however, their heavily-produced sound occasionally drifts into the maudlin.

The release of their seventh studio album is no different, titles were rumoured and dismissed, tracklistings debated and artwork waited on with baited breath.
Mercifully for ‘Lifeblood’ it follows the rather disappointing ‘Know Your Enemy’ (the Manics weakest album), leaving expectations for new material at an all time low.
The answer is neither, the Manics have, for the first time, been able to truly craft a record that perfectly encapsulates where the band are in the 21st Century.

 Lifeblood - Reviews - www.theage.com.au
But on the new album from Welsh trio Manic Street Preachers, their seventh disc in 12 years, you hear an outfit that have aged (they're heading into their late 30s) in an unexpectedly welcome way.
It's not as thrilling as their first offerings, nor are they always on the mark, but when it clicks the result is deeply affecting.
The tunes on Lifeblood often veer towards the sound the band rejected when they formed in 1986: stadium rock.

 Manic Street Preachers on 'Lifeblood'
The Manic Street Preachers continue their seemingly endless re-invention with the darkly sublime, uplifting 'Lifeblood'.
Evolving from the scratchy, bratty punk of their 'Generation Terrorists' to the polished Arena rock of 2001's 'Know Your Enemy' via the bleak, industrial 'The Holy Bible' and the stridently melodic 'Everything Must Go', the Manics have consistently confounded expectations.

 CHALLENGING BASIC ASSUMPTIONS
The importance of zooplankton in ‘living’ seawater can be seen to be roughly equivalent to the importance of the tiny blood cells that float in the liquid medium on which human life depends.
As with the concentration of nitrogen or glucose, the next order of importance in maintaining healthy ‘lifeblood’ is the concentration of the tiny individual blood cells or the tiny animal forms in the sea, the zooplankton.
Therefore, when the ecosystem is forced to downsize and shift a greater fraction of its reserves into the maintenance of the essential constituents of its ‘lifeblood,’ invertebrates such as these will initially be spared.

Amazon.co.uk: LifeBlood: Music   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
Testing times for the Manic Street Preachers: their seventh studio album, Lifeblood, comes hot on the heels of a commercial flop--2001's brave but unfocused Know Your Enemy--and renewed rumours that the band themselves are in the twilight of their existence.
Arguably the most pop orientated album they have ever recorded, 'Lifeblood' marks a sharp divergence from their earlier work, featuring lush, slickly-produced tracks with few guitars in sight.
Whether the Manics continue to drive the void to its climax is all the more speculative but this album is a step in the right direction.

Vampires: The Lifeblood   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-04)
It doesn't do vampires any good to drink the blood from dead creatures, because it's the "lifeblood" that the vampires needs.
Once a vampire consumes the blood from a living creature that blood becomes their lifeblood and is tainted with vampirism.
Any human who drinks vampire blood will have their own blood slowly contaminated by the vampirized blood until they too become a full vampire.

The Observer | OMM | Manic Street Preachers: Lifeblood
That lifeblood arrives with a reading list is instructive: the Manics aren't like other bands.
And yet the Welsh survivors still have much to say, from their perverse attempt to rehabilitate Richard Nixon ('The Love of Richard Nixon') to their struggle to sidestep the shadow of their absent friend ('Cardiff Afterlife').
And while there's nothing here in the league of 'A Design for Life', for instance, Lifeblood 's pop dynamic and deep-rooted pride serve to underline the boys' devotion to rock's cause.
