I've watched this movie repeatedly, especially when I've had a few, and I never fail to enjoy it thoroughly, although not perhaps in the way its creators intended.
If you're after a movie that doesn't make you think at all but has wonderful eye-candy value (if you appreciate female beauty, anyway), this is the one for you.
This movie could have been the epic of all time...

LIFEFORCE (1985) - Tobe Hooper's 1985 sci-fi/horror movie "Lifeforce" is a gonzo mishmash of bad-acting, incredible (if slightly dated) special effects, interesting ideas and the most beautiful naked space vampire ever to walk across the screen.
If you've ever finished watching a movie and asked yourself, "what were they thinking?" then you may know how I felt at the end of this ham and cheesecake classic.
She has not done much work this side of the pond because after this movie she was typecast by American producers as the "naked" girl.

 Lifeforce - SCIFIPEDIA
Lifeforce is a 1985 movie that combines a space shuttle mission with extraterrestrial vampires.
The bodies are initially believed to be those of human captives, but they turn out to be the host bodies for fugitives from Rigel, who extend their own lives by drawing the lifeforce out of others.
The vampire metaphor is explicitly stated in the movie and, in fact, earlier visits by the Rigelians are credited with having given rise to the legend.

I really don't like to rag on a movie, because I'm aware they are such hard work, but I work my ass off all week, and on my free time when I pay money, invest time to relax and escape in a movie….oh, nevermind, you know the story.
Special effects are kinda bold, kinda predictable, and a regular movie/ comic book plot, yet it loses you…er, uhh, it lost me. I didn't care about anyone; I lost everyone's name.
Lifeforce is about a research crew in space that sees another space craft floating around.

I once read a fascinating post at a forum by a very pleasant and intelligent man who was convinced that Lifeforce was actually one of the greatest films ever made, and he even had some anecdotal evidence to try to back up his point-of-view.
It has to be said that Lifeforce does get VERY funny at times (well, natch) but Steve Railsback really doesn't help matters much with his terrible performance.
I was too young to catch Lifeforce at the cinema upon it's initial release so it's cool to now be able to watch it in it's full widescreen ratio.

 LIFEFORCE Music CD Review
CD Overview: Lifeforce was a horror movie, which was produced back in 1985 by Tobe Hooper who made his name with the infamous Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
The score for this movie in my opinion was far more cerebral and entertaining than the actual film itself which is basically a zombie flick, which is a genre, have never been into anyway.
Your imagination is triggers and to be honest this movie score would work better in a straight Sci Fi Movie as apposed to a fusion of Sci Fi and Horror.

Adapted from the novel "The Space Vampires" by Colin Wilson, Lifeforce was a rather mixed-up affair directed by Tobe Hooper and starring Steve Railsback as the leader of a team of astronauts who discover three humanoid beings inside a spaceship that looks like an umbrella, in the tail of Halley's Comet.
The film was a massive flop but, surprisingly, both movie and music have gone on to attain a sort of cult status.
The centrepiece of the score is the 'Lifeforce Theme', an immense, thunderous march that plays over both the opening credits and the end title, bookending the movie with tremendous musical power.

Henry Mancini was brought in to do the score for the movie, and produced quite a bit of material, including an elaborate sequence for the opening of the movie.
When Henry Mancini was unavailable to rework the score to match the new movie, producers opted to bring in Michael Kamen, who stitched together what was left with his own additions.
The result is a rousing symphony from Mancini that outdoes the resulting movie that it was written for.

Horror Bob Presents: The Horror Review - Egregious Gurnow's Review of "Lifeforce" (1985)
Let’s begin with the fact that Lifeforce is utopian sci-fi in that the film opens with a British space mission (of course, to make the scenario plausible, it is a joint effort with Americans).
Afterward, we are then thrust into a menagerie of animatronic special effects which should have been comprised of skinny actors in make up before, bam, Patrick Stewart flashes briefly on the screen but, before departing, locks lips (his first time for the camera) with Colonel Tom.
For example, a male victim, only partially drained of his lifeforce from May’s character--whose method of seduction is her feminine (and nude) charm--is unable to talk to the police because he’s--guess what?

As detailed in the fine liner notes for this release by Randall Larson, Lifeforce had quite the tumultuous journey to the big screen in 1985, not the least of which concerned excising much of its original running time and music composed by the legendary Henry Mancini.
At the time, the choice of Mancini for composer seemed unusual as he had not worked in this genre for decades and while a revered melodist, most of his success was achieved through straight dramatic fare or the comedies of Blake Edwards.
The man was of course capable of much more and aficionados have always been aware of his early work in low-budget horror and sci-fi films of the 1950's, making his powerhouse score for Lifeforce a grand reminder for some and a marvelous surprise for others.

Oh yeah - what a lot of us have been waiting for - it's the expanded version of the Lifeforce soundtrack that includes the complete original score composed by Henry Mancini, the additional music by Michael Kamen and the original soundtrack album that was released in 1985.
When Tobe Hooper's vampire science fiction film Lifeforce was in need of a composer, the Academy Award winner Henry Mancini seemed an unlikely choice.
For the Lifeforce soundtrack, Mancini composed a provocative, dramatic and dynamic orchestral score, an hour and forty minutes of music, which mostly fell victim to the cutting room floor.

His destruction in the movie was not the last the Transformers saw of Unicron; the ghost of Starscream reactivated his severed head and entered into a bargain with Unicron, performing three labours in exchange for the restoration of his body.
