Topic: Light Tank Mk IV

T-34 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The appearance of the T-34-85 in early 1944 gave the Red Army a tank that was superior in armor, firepower, and mobility to the German Pzkw-IV and Sturmgeschutz III that were its main opponents.
Tanks are not primarily used to fight other tanks, although the tank-vs-tank role is very important.
The other key factor diminishing the initial impact of T-34s on the battlefield was the poor state of tank tactics and crew training, a hangover from Stalin's purges of the Soviet officer corps in the late 1930s.

Emhar 1/35 Mk.IV Male WWI Tank
The tank was a different matter, just a handful of men in Britain and France share the credit for the development of the armored fighting vehicles.
The term 'tank' was chosen as a result of an attempt to fool the Germans into believing the new vehicle was a mobile water carrier.
The Mk IV was the first operational 'mother' with greater power and armor.

 The 25-pdr Field Gun 1939 - 1972: Part One
The Mk I was a very different beast to the Mk II and there were three different versions of barrel, with two main versions of the carriage for the Mk I barrel, three versions of the carriage used for the Mk II barrel, and a whole host of adaptations for the carriage in general.
The Mk II was the standard design and was also manufactured in Canada being known as the C Mk II and used at the same time during the early part of the war, being differentiated by the linear silhouette of the barrel showing a larger muzzle area.
The Mk IV saw a modification to the shape of the breech ring that was an attempt to stop it cracking when the gun was fired and the Mk VI was introduced in 1964 having a breech ring made out of better quality steel.
