The Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway is the only true narrow gauge railway (distinct from a miniature railway) on the East Coast of the British Isles.
When the Nocton system was due for replacement by improved roads, a group of railway enthusiasts decided to preserve some of the equipment and convert it for use on a passenger carrying line.
Equally unique is the passenger carriage from the Nocton Estates Light Railway, built on the frame of one of the War Department Light Railway’s Class “D” bogie wagons.

The History of the Railway goes back to 1967 when a group of six schoolboy railway enthusiasts decided to attempt the preservation of examples of Industrial Narrow Gauge Railway equipment, which was rapidly disappearing from local industries.
In 1970 the Southport Pier Railway declared two of its 'Silver Belle' bogie passenger cars surplus to requirements, and the opportunity was taken to acquire both for the Railway, thereby improving the passenger facilities yet further.
The Railway took the opportunity to acquire three identical Motor Rail locomotives from this source, and since then two of these locomotives have gone back to this line, having been restored by a similar preservation society to the West Lancs.

The volunteer-run Bluebell Line was the UK's first preserved standard gauge passenger railway, re-opening part of the Lewes to East Grinstead line of the old London Brighton and South Coast Railway in 1960.
The railway is operated by "Bluebell Railway plc", which is majority owned by the volunteer membership through the Bluebell Railway Preservation Society, and this membership also provides the dedicated volunteer labour which enables the line to continue running.
The only "dividend" members receive is the immense satisfaction of seeing "their" railway provide a day's entertainment for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.

The light nature of the wooden bridges over the docks, and the risk of fire from sparks, meant that the line was operated by horse-drawn trains for many years.

Here is 4700s sister 4701 which is on loan to the railway by its owner Chris knibbs.to see these two locomotives double heading makes for an impressive sight.
This locomotive is Robin Hood and was built by David Curwen in 1947 and ran at Weymouth along the radipole lake.Based on a LNER A2/1 pacific built by Thompson she makes for a large model.
