The township is classed as a township of the second class of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
In the township the population was spread out with 20.3% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 24.9% from 25 to 44, 28.8% from 45 to 64, and 20.3% who were 65 years of age or older.
