Lila Lee (July 25, 1901 - November 13, 1973) was a prominent screen actress of the early silent film era.
Lila Lee was born Augusta Wilhelmena Fredericka Appel in Union Hill, New Jersey into a middle-class family of German immigrants who relocated to New York City when Lila was quite young.
In 1973 Lee died of a stroke at Saranac Lake, New York.

Lee made frequent appearances on television anthology series in the 1940s and 1950s, including Robert Montgomery Presents, The Ford Theatre Hour, Kraft Television Theatre, Armstrong Circle Theatre and Wagon Train.
In later years, she became known to a new generation as the matriarch Lila Quartermaine on General Hospital and Port Charles until her sacking in 2003, which one of her sons attested would sap her will to live.
On her passing, Anna Lee was interred in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California.

I remember seeing her movies and watching her on GH as Lila Q. for more than 25 years and remember how kind, nice and thoughtful she was on both film and tv.
Anna Lee was such a grandma model, she was funny sometimes and enjoy whenever she came out, which was no too often in later years.
My wife and I were guests for this, as we were for previewing an Academy-Award-nominated film with her (Anna was on the polled jury) and for the filming of a sequence of General Hospital at the ABC studios.

So, Lila was sweet and good, as we were told incessantly for the past three days, so I'm sure the writers think she is "boring" and that's why they wrote her out.
For those of you who may not know, Anna Lee (Lila) was fired in October 2003.
Lila was a "saint" on the show and the past few days showed how much everyone loved her and how missed she is. That is more true than they know because we miss all of the "good guys" on the show.
