BG2 - Item Detail: Lilarcor   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Lawrence Lilarcor was well known, not for being brave, but as an idiot.
Thus was born a laughing stock of epic proportions, and over time the name of Lilarcor became the sacrificial fool in many tales of "less than brillance".
It is known whether this enchanted weapon is Lilarcor himself, perhaps imprisoned by an evil mage or some other odd coincidence of fate, but it certainly acts in a manner consistant with his level of competence.

I picked up Lilarcor, the talking sword, a long time ago, and i loved his banter and remarks, but there's one thing i really hate about it: it's just to overpowered.

I unchecked the box in FPS Optimizer and then toggled his mood music off & on again, and it worked ok. I assume checking that box in the Morrowind FPS Optimizer somehow disables a script's ability to use the StreamMusic function (which is how Lil plays/loops his "silent" music file to mute the regular music).
BTW, the fact that Lilarcor's Phantom resembles a certain comic book character is merely coincidental.
IE: I made a "Lilarcor" race, then created body parts for it using Netch leather pieces and such.

Talking Weapons plus random one-liners -- Neverwinter Nights Vault   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
Since I really missed Lilarcor from BG2 I tried to recreate it in NWN format including all its one-liners.
This means Lilarcor will say something from time to time even if you didn't use its 'unique power' to talk to it directly.
Depending on wether you're in combat or not and if Lilarcor is equipped or not (it will pester you if you don't equip it) a different set of one-liners will be used.

I found Lilarcor in BG to be funny as heck, and if you ahd it equipped through most of the game, it would give info and opinions about certain areas too (such as entering a dragon den hehe).

The label is displayed on a button that you will see if you right-click the item for options.
You could also give the item a personal name or something, as was done for Lilarcor.
If I remember correctly, one method involves creating an invisible character (with the item's name) near the party and having it start a dialog using the item's dialog file.

As demonstrated by my sig, this is probably the best item I have ever seen in my entire gameplaying life.
Found relatively early on in BG2, Lilarcor is a sentient sword.
Lilarcor's essence is actually that of some foolish wizard-type character who was an idiot in some pretty remarkable ways.

 Neverwinter Nights: Intelligent weapons?
I believe they mean "intelligent" as in they mold with the character and can sometimes start a conversation, ala Lilarcor from BG2.
Admittedly, Lilarcor didn't do much more than that in BG2, but Lilarcor wasn't all that intelligent even by the standards that apply to sharpened lengths of steel.
An intelligent weapon would have its own desires and goals, which might or might not mesh well with those of the player.

Neverwinter Nights: Creating a custom soundset - I'm totally lost...
I've read several of the custom-content tutorials, but they all leave me pretty much lost and confused where to follow.
Also, how is it possible to have the custom sounds placed into a *.bif file (if at all?) Once the hak-pack is completed, I'll be attempting to export it's contents into my Override directory, but that kinda leaves the sounds a bit...
For example, I wouldn't really want every soundfile totally accessable by every user who downloads the mod- it'd be better to have Lilarcor speak them one-at-a-time during the game, as opposed to a downloader listening to each audio file straight after downloading.

BioWare Forums: Starting at BG1 and ending at TOB. What should I know.
If I want to use Lilarcor or any of the other great weapons/armor should I just stick with some kind of fighter class?
I like theives for the game--they level-up quickly, you will probably loose your main theif in BG1 about 3/4 of the way through (He/She will want to dual-class) otherwise.
You cannot make a ranger/druid but ranger/cleric is very, very potent as they get access to druidical spells (my advice is to dual a human ranger to cleric at level 12).

All spellcasters who can cast wizard spells should be sure to cast Fire Shield (Red).
You can counter this with confusion-resisting items such as Lilarcor and Aeger's Hide, or you can cast Chaotic Commands (5th level priest spell) on all of your characters, giving priority to the ones who are going to engage in melee combat.
Needless to say, trying any kind of fire attack against Firkraag is rather useless.
