The Lima seniors donated the $5,000 they raised since eighth grade for their senior trip to a teacher with advanced breast cancer in December.
Now, the "Operation Seaside" fund — named for the town in Oregon the seniors want to travel to — has more than $11,000, which is more money than the seniors need to pay for their trip.
Ben Yarbrough, the Lima man who started Operation Seaside, said he'd talked to the seniors about giving some of the money to Robinson — "they thought it was cool." So he caught up with Paula Christensen, who was just beginning to put together an effort to raise funds for Robinson.

One-month-old Moises Chavez, who was taken to Lima this week after he was born in Peru's central Andes, is one of only a few babies worldwide born with the defect in all four limbs, said Dr Luis Rubio, who will lead the baby's long treatment.
Dark-haired Moises, who weighs 2.5kg and is 33cm long, cries and reacts to sound but his leg bones are bent at a 90-degree angle from his body, while his hands are distorted outward as his tiny elbows hug his chest.
Rubio said funding for the treatment, which could last years, would initially come from the Lima town hall, although he may have to look for aid from abroad at a later stage.
