Limblifter's core members -- two brothers, released their second album (featuring their double 'L' logo), which coincidentally took two years to write and record happened to come out in the year 2000.
Limblifter spend the better part of those two years working on their follow-up to their self-titled debut, which was recorded over a couple of weeks back in 1996 -- quite the contrast.
Limblifter first rose as a side project to Age of Electric (which happened to feature two sets of two brothers).

 SEE Magazine: July 22nd, 1999
For starters, recall that Limblifter started off as a side project of the brothers Ryan and Kurt Dahle between records with what was then their full-time gig with Vancouver rockers the Age of Electric.
Limblifter cut an album, landed a major label deal and scored a modest success with their 1996 self-titled release.
Limblifter spent the better part of last year in the studio recording their follow up album, as well as parting (on good terms this time) with co-founder and bassist Ian Somers, recruiting new bass player Todd Fancey and walking away from their label, Universal.

 Interview: Ryan Dahle of Limblifter
Having seen locals Limblifter back in July at FoxFest, and having appreciated their playful sense of humour at that show, I was pleased to note that lead singer Ryan Dahle's wits were still about him as he deadpanned his replies to my questions in our recent conversation.
Limblifter have good reason to laugh these days, with their successful self-titled debut CD garnering much attention.
But the Saskatchewan born and bred Dahles are not content to play in just one band at a time: they're also hard-working members (together with another pair of brothers, the Kerns) of the equally hard-rocking Age of Electric.

Limblifter is back with a new line up and a new record deal, offering up the scooterphile album of the year, I/O.
The bottom line is this: I/O will definitely be worth your time, but it only makes you appreciate the jovial and effortless power-pop of their debut all the more.

 Limblifter: In/Out: Pitchfork Record Review
But while In/Out is an uneven Limblifter release, its strongest moments suggest that neither the extended recording absence nor Dahle's departure has impeded the band.
Limblifter too often rely on rigid, conventional pop structures designed to accentuate Dahle's inventive melodies, sacrificing the complexity hinted at in the album's strongest tracks.
As a comeback from an extended hiatus, I/O re-establishes Limblifter as a skilled pop ensemble, but the band hasn't quite reclaimed the kind of energy and spontaneity that has defined their best work.

Limblifter's long awaited follow up to their debut in 1996 has finally hit the streets.
Now with Age Of Electric (both of the Dahle brothers in Limblifter were in AOE) officially broken up due mainly to the Universal Polygram merger they have more time to concentrate on this superior project.
Their sound is that brand of catchy radio pop that is too good for radio as it would make all the current roster look like the shit that it is. Great upbeat rockers are mixed right beside downtempo pop gems.

CANOE -- JAM! Music - Artists - Limblifter: Spinoff band no `side project'   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-26)
When Ryan Dahle formed Limblifter, the Vancouver guitarist knew it wasn't a "side project." What he didn't expect was the juggling act that ensued when Limblifter's success equalled that of his other well-known rock band, Age Of Electric.
Soon Limblifter and Age Of Electric scored simultaneous record deals, with MCA in Canada and Mercury in the U.S. Screwed It Up, the first single off Limblifter's self-titled debut album, garnered heavy radio play even though the band members don't care for the song and were against its release as a single.
Limblifter played their first Canadian show in front of an even bigger crowd, opening Oasis' infamous 20-minute concert in Vancouver last month - the one where the angry Mancunians stormed offstage early in their set after being hit with shoes from the audience.

And while radio stations were still echoing past hits like “Tinfoil” and “Ariel vs. Lotus,” Limblifter was lying low, going through a number of lineup shifts, and eventually pulling together enough time, material and money to release their new rock album I/O. Though it wasn’t an easy task, according to Dahle.
In fact, it almost seemed like Limblifter was done for good at one point, as the original lineup fell apart to leave frontman Dahle as the only consistent member.
Though that apparently wasn’t always the case with past Limblifter lineups, particularly when Dahle’s brother Kurt was behind the drum kit.
