Exposure to rock and roll in his early years was limited for blues guitarist Colin James, living as he did with parents that favoured bluegrass and folk music.
Back on the road James did dates in the US with Keith Richards, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Steve Winwood, and Little Feat, establishing himself as one of the premier new guitarists of the time, and a blues force to be noticed.
James was firmly entrenched as a blue guitarist/songwriter to reckon with, receiving Juno and West Coast Music Awards nominations and awards.

I was finally able to catch Colin in concert in Moncton NB in the fall of 99.
Colin's musical exploration from album to album would make a natural double bill with another chameleon Canadian act Blue Rodeo.
My only complaints about Colin James is that he needs more cd's and needs to tour the States.

 Cathy Ponton King
Cathleen Ponton was born on October 5, 1954 on North Capitol Street in Washington, D.C. But her family moved to the near suburb of Hyattsville, MD, a year later, smack dab in the middle of an Irish immigrant community of perhaps 60 or more families.
It is indeed a fitting testimonial to a man who, shunning the limelight, quietly worked behind the scenes for the betterment of those disfranchised on society’s fringes.
Cathy, despite the closing of many a club, has managed to stay busy and her band, for the most part, parents with day jobs, has not only been good to go but exceedingly loyal as well, which is saying something these days.

The Canadian aspect of this is that the fellows who wrote the show, James Rado and Jerome Ragni, who were also its stars, turned to Canadian Galt MacDermott to write the music.
He used the same musicians who backed everybody's records and the producer of his hits was most often Lou Adler who already had made his name with Johnny Rivers and was about to discover and record The Mamas and the Papas and found Ode Records which was the home of Carole King in the 70s.
James' Then Again, was a greatest hits compilation while Healey's Cover to Cover was a collection of some of his favourite songs by other artists, including While My Guitar Gently Weeps which went on to become a hit again in his hands.

On his new release, James is once again assisted by a crop of venerable field hands from his Cotton patch.
