The bridge is 50'0" in length with a clear span of 41'4".
However, many believe it was built for its present location in 1871 when the Lincoln Turnpike Company, created by an act of the Legislature, obtained the right to build the road from the main highway, U.S. Route 3, to a point near the foot of the Flume.

According to the foliage forecast on the New Hampshire state tourism website, the foliage peak will be the weekend AFTER Columbus Day, which means that the highways are still going to be jampacked.
It's true, there will be even more traffic on Columbus Day weekend, when the roads will be complete gridlock in some spots, but don't expect an easy drive of it on the weekend after, either.
