Lincoln University began life in 1880 as the Lincoln School of Agriculture.
From 1961 to 1990, it became Lincoln College, a constituent college of the University of Canterbury, until achieving autonomy in 1990 as Lincoln University.

New ornamentals obtained in South America such as some Begonia, Ennealophus, Fuchsia, and Tibouchina species which are new to New Zealand are evaluated for growth habit, flowering behavior, and postharvest shelf life to estimate their potential as cut flowers or potted plants.
The program is new and open-ended in relation to identifying new opportunities and although many of the crops under investigation have not been previously grown in New Zealand, we believe the approach will see many of them become established industries in the future.

Adaptive management is gaining emphasis in workshops and at conferences, however, it is becoming increasingly apparent that there is limited knowledge and understanding (gained through practical experience) of the approach, and when there is knowledge, there appears to be little consensus on what the approach means in practice.
There are a number of proposals for the use of adaptive management in New Zealand fisheries that, whos harvest is regulated by a quota management system.

In the present report, examination of the New Zealand population at this time, sampled over at 8° range of latitude, revealed a corresponding synchronous induction of diapause without the usual latitudinal and therefore temperature-related shift in critical photoperiod
bonariensis throughout New Zealand is an adaptively inappropriate relict response resulting from the recently arrived weevils cueing into the same photoperiodic seasonality as their South American counterparts, which in regions such as Bariloche, must have evolved diapause behaviour to survive.
