Lincoln County, organized in 1780, was one of the first three counties formed out of the original Kentucky County, which was still part of Virginia at the time (the other two being Fayette and Jefferson).
Lincoln county is located in south central Kentucky in the southern part of the ring of Knobs around the Bluegrass.
In the county the population was spread out with 25.70% under the age of 18, 8.40% from 18 to 24, 29.80% from 25 to 44, 23.10% from 45 to 64, and 13.10% who were 65 years of age or older.
