Lincoln County was created by the Legislative Assembly on February 20, 1893, from the western portion of Benton County and Polk County.
Like Tillamook County to the north, for the first decades of its existence Lincoln County was isolated from the rest of the state.

Surely, given the continuity of his residence in Bayham Tp., Ontario, this must be a mistake, and he was merely a visitor at the time; for although he is indicated as being married, there is no wife recorded with him.
At the time of their marriage the groom was of Gainsborough Tp., Lincoln Co., and the bride of Esquesing Tp., Halton Co; there was apparently only one witness to the wedding, an Andrew Dean.
Although the editors of the record place a question mark after “58 years,” the figure is in good agreement with the ages reported for her in census records: 30 in 1852, 39 in 1861, 49 in 1871, 60 in 1881.
