		The LINC and the PDP-8 can be considered the first mini computers and perhaps the first personal computers as well.
		When the user pressed a key, the LINC would lock all the keys in their current up or down positions, read the key into a hardware register, then, when the running program read the register, the hardware would release all locking solenoids.
		The LINC hardware allowed a 12-bit word to be rapidly and automatically displayed on the screen as a 2-wide by 6-high matrix of pixels, making it possible to display full screens of flicker-free text.

	LINC STUDY
		The goal of the LINC program is to identify incarcerated people with HIV, STDs, TB and hepatitis, assist in planning their release, and follow them after release to determine if the interventions made a difference.
		Director Rutherford has reported to LINC staff that since the implementation of Jail LINC, correctional medical care is being directed more towards a public health model and inmate health care is a key selling point to the public.
		The Prison LINC project provides: (1) screening, counseling and testing for HIV (2) HIV prevention education for inmates and staff; (3) release planning for inmates leaving the correctional facility and returning to their communities; (4) follow up in the community for at least six months to determine if interventions made a difference.

		It's annoying that programs of this quality are axed (I axed Showtime after this and Beggars and Choosers were canceled).
		Tim Reid, most famous for being Venus Flytrap on WKRP has turned into a complex and nuanced writer/producer, and Linc's was a joy to watch in terms of character and dialogue every week.
		Most remarkable about Linc's, was that it managed to create a political dialogue that's almost unheard of in modern TV programming.
