Mosquitos were not very present so I stopped taking Doxycycline two days before the trip ended.  That was a mistake, as I contracted a vicious species of malaria (plasmodium farciparum) during the last two days at Perinet, and spent a miserable week before Christmas in the hospital recovering from the disease.
The remainder of the carcass is consumed over the next few days.  This is a well-studied location where it is easy to see some species that are almost impossible in other rainforests in Madagascar, and the birds and mammals are exceptional not only here but in Vohiparara just down the road.
Hot and sweaty all day, we swam in the Mozambique Channel at sunset, surrounded by turquoise blue water like the turquoise skin patches on the Couas we had seen, calm on this side of the reef.

My leaftails main diet is crickets and I've only used the meat baby food as something to put the calcium in to boost their calcium reserves a couple of times.
I also have Crested geckos and in books I've read about them it recommends mixing baby food fruit and meat if the CGD is not used and no live prey is given to them.
I think that is because I have a habba mister in their cage to battle the dry, Nevada weather and it is constantly spraying water out over the whole cage.

i'm sure that when you're not looking that gecko is hunting crickets or he would have starved by now.
most animals have a certain place they like to hide during the day (or night) and whn no one's around they come out and eat and explore and then go back to their 'special place'.
I've had my golden gecko for about 3 years now, and only seen him eat 4-5 times, but, he eats, otherwise, I wouldn't have him now.
