		A show starring the Lippizaner Stallions opened at the Newcastle Telewest Arena last night, with further performances today and tomorrow.
		Fourteen Lippizaner stallions and their riders perform in the show, which is now in its 33rd year of touring.

		Eighteen years later, Archduke Karl, ruler of four Austrian provinces, established a royal stud farm in Lipizza, located in the hills of Karst, near Trieste.
		It was rugged, craggy country with little vegetation or water, but the Lippizans thrived on it, lending to their endurance, strength and speed.
