	Liquid Tension Experiment - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		The combo was formed as a side project to Dream Theater in 1998 (though some theorise that Rudess was asked to join the band largely because of the success of the Liquid Tension Experiment (having already declined a previous offer to join in 1994 and instead becoming a member of the Dixie Dregs)).
		Liquid Tension Experiment released two albums, Liquid Tension Experiment (1998) and Liquid Tension Experiment 2 (1999) on Magna Carta records.
		Mike Portnoy has stated in numerous interviews (and on his web site FAQ) that there will not be a third LTE album, as 3/4 of the band is in the current Dream Theater line-up.

		Maybe my expectations were too high though, because with repeated play the first half of LTE 2 has grown on me. The second half still doesn't do much for me, but that may be because after 40 minutes or so of this kind of music, I get a little burnt out.
		On LTE 2 it's just one high-speed progmetal piece after another for close to 74 minutes, which is more than I can take.
		Still, LTE 2 lacks a lot of the spontenaity, enthusiasm and interest I found in the first disc.

		Notwithstanding all the soloing and tempo and moodchanges on this track, there is a certain obviousness to this track, almost Toto like in their older days.
		The tension is felt on this track, and after atmosphere changes going from tense to heavy going to almost singalong.
