IRBY FOOTBALL CLUB | Liscard Bronze match report
Irby started off badly with players out of position cluttering defence and no cohesion or shape to their play, and Liscard sensed this and pounced to be ahead within 5 minutes.
Irby were now in full flow and Liscard looked tired and demoralised and 5 minutes later Irby’s leading goal scorer, Graeme Matthews scored what was to be the winner and his 35th goal of the season.
But even a succession of free kicks around the Irby box, and a number of corners in the dying minutes of the game could not be converted to an equaliser.

Subterranea Britannica: SB-Sites: Liscard & Poulton Station
Notes: The line on which Liscard and Poulton station stood was the last addition to the Wirral Railway Companies network of lines that stretched from Birkenhead to West Kirby and to New Brighton.
The branch left the New Brighton branch at Seacombe Junction from where heavy engineering was required to drive the line through a sandstone ridge and through to.
Even these services ended in 1963 and some time later most of the route, including the site of Liscard and Poulton station was used to form the Kingsway Road Tunnel that opened in 1971.
