Lise is better known for her accomplishments in mainstream issues than for anything she did in the field of disability.
Lise was the Liberal party candidate in Quebec's 1981 provincial election, and a Liberal candidate in the federal election in 1984.
Lise Thibault also clearly understands that, as a woman and as a person with a disability, she has a responsibility to act as a role model for others.

God only knows what qualifications Lise Thibault brought to her appointment as Lieutenant-Governor of Quebec, but apparently a passing acquaintance with constitutional law was not one of them.
Thibault has yet to be formally invested, but has already seen fit to announce on national television that she would sign a bill declaring the independence of Quebec.
Thibault, like Bouchard, Chretien and nearly everyone else in Quebec, is mesmerized by the prospect of a declaration of independence having been supported by a majority of the voters in a referendum.
