Werner Stengel and the Liseberg roller coasters
In 1965, he visited Liseberg in connection with the construction of a new roller coaster, Super 8, which operated from 1966 to 1979.
Werner Stengel also visited Liseberg in 1976 for the Children's coaster, (Cirkusexpressen), and in 1986 for Lisebergbanan, which opened in 1987, replaced the old Bergbanan.
Liseberg's position close to the center of Göteborg means that Balder has neighbours, who don't always appreciate happy roller coaster rider screams throughout the long summer evenings.

For its efforts, Liseberg park swept its nominated categories at the 2002 IAAPA Brass Ring Awards, racking up first place finishes for the print advertisement, outdoor advertisement, and brochure categories; a second place finish for best television commercial; and, most notably, the esteemed “Best of Show” award for its poignant print advertisement.
The Liseberg marketing team met with a creative group from Shout, the park’s veteran advertising agency, and discussed the creation of an ad campaign that would convey happiness, sympathy, and emotional appeal.
Liseberg has had to rely more heavily on publicity this season than it does during its summertime operation, but feedback has been positive.

Coastersandmore.com - Roller Coaster magazine:: Kanonen - Great firepower at Liseberg
Liseberg like most Scandinavian downtown parks suffers from a chronic lack of space, and so the park parted with the scenic railway in 1987, last but not least because of the high maintenance cost.
The citizens of Gothenburg complained vociferously about the loss of the wooden coaster at which a brakeman on board of every train controlled the speed manually, and so Balder was built in 2003 as a modern replacement that has easily won the coaster fans´ favor.
But afterwards Liseberg had no looping coaster at their disposal, so the course for the next attraction was already set.

Liseberg Amusement Park in Gothenburg, Sweden is premiering its new 2003 summer season attraction, Balder roller coaster, in a wash of Martin Architectural color.
"Liseberg in general and Balder in particular are a total experience that starts as soon as you approach the attraction or drive past Liseberg along the E6 motorway,” says Ralf Andreasson, project manager at Liseberg.
Another main reason is that Liseberg wanted the ability to change the look of Balder to make it more interesting for the guests waiting to ride - sort of a pre-show.

The use of graphics are good (such as the Liseberg bunny) and there is no sign of poor maintenance yet the simplicity of the site and the lack of any multimedia options such as a few minutes of video about certain areas of the park and the attractions makes this a rather average site.
Firstly the screen is not divided up into different windows and although there is a menu which is similar to the one in Liseberg it is a vast improvement.
This site is extremely useful, giving you a map of the park, a timetable of what bands are playing when and a great run down of all the rides in the park as well as some beautiful pictures of some rides.
