At the time the FIFA 100 was selected, 50 of the players were still active, with the remaining 75 retired from the game.
Clearly, it can't be at List of 100 Greatest Living Footballers, as it does not include any of the all-time greats, such as Jack Dyer, Peter Hudson, John Nichols, Ron Barassi, Gary Ablett, or even David Campese.
