The films of this period are referred to as race movies, and the practice of black filmmaking was established as a result of the great black migrations.
In the late ’60s, the film industry suffered severe economic problems stemming from the maturation of the television industry and the continuing complications of the 1948 Paramount Consent Decree — major Hollywood studios were forced to divest their interests in both film production and exhibition.
A black film not only has to be made by a black director, it has to feature a majority African-American cast with a concept that focuses on the black experience and is therefore targeted to African-American viewers.

I really hope Crazy Monkey changes things, but let's be honest, the only reason why they're doing a film is because MTV picked them up when South African TV stations weren't interested.

Maybe not very African in its style, but filmed on location in Africa, presenting a different image and unique as an African action movie and very entertaining.The theme of the film is good, but it all becomes TOO politically correct and the story becomes too artificial and actually a bit boring.
Anyone who has experienced life in a modern African city will enjoy the atmosphere and many of the scenes from this film.
The movie is "designed" to shaming us of the fact that the West didn't do anything to stop the bloodshed until it was too late -and this is exactly what it does.
